
San Salvador de Valdediós (IX Century). Located in a beautiful valley. In this place Alfonso I El Magno built a palace that has not been preserved and this palatal church that has three naves covered by half-barrel vaults and three chapels oriented to the east. It has beautiful capitals decorated with vegetation motives, mural paintings that show certain influence from the Arabic Spain and an attractive arcade. It was built in 893 and belongs to the UNESCO World heritage. We can also find churches from the same period or later Duch as: San Salvador de Priesca (X Century).
The Villaviciosa county is one of the most important exponents of manifestations of this type of art due to the number of churches of this period that can be found here. Among these treasures we can mention the churches San Juan de Amandi (XII Century) Santa Maria de Lugás (XII Century), San Salvador de Fuentes (XI Century) among others.
